Static vs dynamic boards in double board bomb pots

Two boards means two textures at once. We split the solved library by how much each flop can change and measured how the solver plays the same hands on each kind, in PLO and in hold'em.

1What static and dynamic mean here

A static flop is rainbow and unconnected: no flush draw and no straight possible yet, so its best hand rarely changes. A dynamic flop is monotone, or two-tone and connected: draws everywhere. Everything else (two-tone and unconnected, or rainbow and connected) sits in the middle.

2The whole range barely notices

Across every hand, the first player to act bets about the same on every mix of textures: 6.0% to 7.2% in six-handed PLO and 6.0% to 7.1% in hold'em. Texture matters hand by hand, not for the range as a whole.

3PLO: strong hands push the static board

Six-handed PLO, facing a bet, with one pair or less and no draw on the other board. A set raises 34% of the time on a static board and 18% on a dynamic one. Top two pair folds 62% on a static board and 88% on a dynamic one.

4Hold'em checks the static nuts

First to act, with the nuts on one board and one pair or less and no draw on the other, hold'em bets 2.3% on a static board and 25% on a dynamic one. PLO goes the other way: the same hand bets 28% on a static board and 22% on a dynamic one.

5Hold'em raises its sets more on dynamic boards

Facing a bet with one pair or less and no draw on the other board, a hold'em set raises 28% of the time on a static board and 55% on a dynamic one, the opposite of PLO. Top two pair in hold'em almost never folds on a static board (0.2%) but folds 27% on a dynamic one.

Every number on this page comes from our solved double board library. The trainer deals you spots like these and grades each decision against the solution in big blinds, and the free equity calculator shows how the pot splits across both boards.

How we measured: averages of the solver's own frequencies over the solved library as of September 30, 2026: every six-handed board (82 PLO and 176 hold'em), 3,000 dealt hands per board, at the flop decision. Boards keep getting solved deeper, so numbers can move a little over time. A hand counts when it is strong on one board and has one pair or less and no draw on the other; the texture is that of its strong board.
